MEZZALLE is a huge old farm house in the heart of the Chianti region, perched on a hill in the middle of a woodland of chesnuts, olive trees, and vineyards, 20 km from Florence and 17 km from Greve in Chianti. According to some historians, the old house, which dates back to the 9th century a.d., was a retreat to a community of Templars. Mezzalle is situated only 3 km from the village of San Polo in Chianti, where it is possible to find a variety of shops. The village is known for the centuries old cultivation of iris (Iris Pallida), which in the spring time characterizes the area with beautiful fields of colour, to which an annual festival is dedicated in May. Recently the old stables and outhouses of Mezzalle have been renovated as little self-contained holiday apartments. Each apartment has been tastefully designed to cater for all needs. Natur lovers can enjoy the splendid views and stroll along many footpaths while art lovers can easily reach nearby centres of art such as Florence, Arezzo, Siena. All the apartments are equipped with kitchenette, bathroom with shower, central heating and air conditioning. Each apartment has its own little garden with private access.
